Why I Practice: Natalie Sundeen

I never considered any other options when it came to my career—I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a lawyer. Law has always been an integral part of my family's identity, with my grandpa, dad, uncle, aunt, and cousins all practicing in the legal profession. Inspired by their dedication and achievements, I felt a deep responsibility to carry on our family legacy and add my own chapter to its history.

But my motivation wasn’t rooted solely in tradition or familial expectation. My love and commitment to the community have always guided me as well. I believe in using my skills to help others, whether it’s offering guidance, standing up for someone in need, or simply making sure their voices are heard. Practicing law allows me to serve not just individual clients but the broader community, striving to make a positive impact every day.

What truly draws me to law is the unique opportunity it provides to occasionally witness - and even participate in - justice being done. It doesn't happen all the time, but every now and again, there are those rare moments when you see the system work as it should, and you know you helped make that possible. Those moments, fleeting as they are, are genuinely thrilling and reaffirm my commitment to this path. It’s in those instances of fairness, equity, and truth that I find the deepest satisfaction, reminding me why I chose to be a lawyer and why I continue in this profession.
